FOUNDER & TATTOOER

Rhys Paku

I've been tattooing for the best part of two decades. I spent my first seven years on needle bars and coil machines before eventually making the move to cartridges and wireless pens.

Starting Metal Fingers was never about adding one more cartridge to an already crowded market. There is no shortage of those. If our name was going on the box, it had to be something I would happily run all day in my own machine. So we spent two years getting it right before we sold a single one.

What came out of that is the Climax range, developed alongside Australian engineers and still being refined today. We have never treated product development as something you finish, and we are not about to start now. Artists sit at the centre of every call we make, from the geometry of a cartridge right through to the checkout. Practical, but never boring.

We're here to leave our own mark.

BORN IN A WORKING STUDIO

Metal Fingers did not start in a boardroom. It started in a tattoo shop.

Our cartridges are tested through real sessions at Uncle Winston's Tattoo Studio. If something does not feel right, the artists say so, and we change it.

That's still how we work.

HOW THEY'RE BUILT

We do not choose parts because they read well on a box. Every one of them has a job to do.

Materials, membrane tension, needle configuration and cartridge geometry are considered together, then tested in the chair before we sign off on them.

Simple parts. A lot of thought behind them.
